Our Team
Stephen Varanko, CPA, Partner
Steve founded Varanko and Black in 1983, and is the managing partner. He graduated from the University of Baltimore with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting. He has been a CPA for 45 years, and is a member of the AICPA, MACPA, and MSATP. He worked for the IRS for 3 years, and has taught accounting and income tax courses at the University of Baltimore.
Charles A. Black, CPA, Partner
Chip joined Steve when the company was formed in 1983, and became a partner in 1988. He graduated from Towson State University with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting. He has been a CPA for 32 years and is a member of the AICPA and the MACPA.
Sharon Morrow, CPA
Sharon joined Varanko and Black in 1986. She graduated from the University of Baltimore with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting. She became a CPA in 1986 and is a member of the AICPA, MACPA, and MSATP.
John Debuski, CPA, CVA
John joined Varanko and Black in 1999. He graduated from Mount Saint Mary's University with Bachelor of Science degrees in both Accounting and Economics. He has been a Certified Public Accountant for 35 years and a Certified Valuation Analyst since September 2014. John is a member of the AICPA, MACPA and NACVA.
Melissa Varanko, CPA
Melissa joined Varanko and Black in 2008 after gaining experience with a national CPA firm and a large local firm. She graduated magna cum laude from Villa Julie College (now Stevenson University) with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting. She has been a CPA for 15 years and is a member of the AICPA, MACPA and MSATP.
Elizabeth Sparr Gostomski, CPA
Beth joined Varanko and Black in 2003. She graduated from Villa Julie College (now Stevenson University) with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting. She has over 20 years experience and became a CPA in 2011. She is a member of the AICPA, MACPA and the MSATP.
Michele Naff, Staff Accountant/Enrolled Agent
Michele joined Varanko and Black in 2006. She has been working in the accounting field for over 35 years, and works with all aspects of accounting.
Amy Wingo, Payroll Specialist
Amy joined Varanko and Black in 1996. She has over 28 years of experience, and works primarily in the payroll field.
Cindy Starr, Staff Accountant
Cindy most recently joined Varanko and Black in 2005. She graduated from Villa Julie College (now Stevenson University) with a AA in Business Administration. She has over 27 years of experience.
Debbie Kall, Office Manager
Debbie joined Varanko and Black in 2007 after retiring from the Air Force. She is a member of the American Society of Military Comptrollers, has 20 years experience as a financial analyst, and over 35 years in bookkeeping and administrative management.
Stephanie Nadobny, Office Assistant
Stephanie joined Varanko and Black in 2010. She has a degree in Journalism from Michigan State University and a degree in Kinesiology from Indiana University, and has bookkeeping and administrative experience.
Mandy Burton, Receptionist/Secretary
Mandy joined Varanko & Black in 2012 and has over 17 years of administrative experience.
